Walking Along the Broken Squares

Excerpt from Measuring For Balance by Author Demitri Tyler

Walking Along the Broken Squares

In to the night its black face
amongst the fog its white waves
in to silence sullen gaze
shadows more me than they

Down to the intersection to cross
or stay above stars mock us little things
may we ever learn to shine that way
if a street lamp green could only mean
to go a place secure in faith

The streets, the lines that merge and bend
yet do not warm nor curve the ache
and how far down the road till end
the poet knows for a poets dares to

Walk the cements broken squares
