Pre-Colonial

I saved you when you were lost at sea
My sea remember?
Held you like an infant
Carried you
Treated you like a son
Exchanged your foreign rags
With gold silk buffalo fur
Nursed you back to life
Brought you back to life
Taught you how the ground
Works according to season
Fed your hunger Native corn
African rice fish deer elk bird
You grew strong
Taught you how it takes a village
You were but a child eager to learn
Now you look with amnesia upon me
Only the short term recalled
I could have left you to die there James remember?

Do you recall?
