And just like that
The whole game changed.
The magnets flipped,
Finger snap quick,
The whole existence rearranged.
We really thought we could stop it.
We honestly believed we got it.
“The World Is Ours” was the national anthem.
Just follow the leaders, or me, or we, or them…
But what a shock to think we all return to rust.
Another star born, another sun turns to dust.
Nothing more than a speck in our version of time.
The matter weighs heavy and chokes every mind.
So, let’s ride this wave out past the Milky Way.
If it’s the end, it’s the end, what else can we say?
Just let love be and live out each and every day
Like it’s the last time you’ll ever see my face.
