Discrimination – Author Leon Pryce

Here I am today
Looking for a new day
The same things
They said yesterday
Are the very same things
They are saying today

They hate, discriminate
Me and you
Can`t eat from the same plate
it`s the same debate
About why we hate
Yet we`re never doing anything
About the environment
We create

Why should I be sad?
To make you happy
Why should I have to die?
So you can live
Don`t we all
Deserve a place and space
In this global atmosphere

You look at me, you see all the faults
You look at me, you pass judgement
You look at me
But what you don`t see is
That I am
Another human being
Just like yourself

What you don`t see
Is that I could have been you
And you could have been me
What you don`t see is, that the same issues
Affecting me, are the very same issues
Affecting you

What are you afraid of?
Is it a disease?
Is it the person or thing we`ve become?
Are you afraid
That I could have been
Your brother
Your uncle, nephew or son

But it`s ok
Don`t feel scared
Let us comfort each other
In whatever way we can
Let us reach out, Let us be there
Let us be one today

We don`t have to
Let circumstances
Separate us
But what we can do is
Unite around the circumstances
Each one strengthens one
With love

~ Dedicated to my cousin Mesha ~
