My Voice

My voice

Weak

Thoughts amiss

Quarter century gone

A week

And I still taste

You on my lips.

Your voice

Whispers

I can’t sleep

Hot breath brushes

My soul

Tuesday now

Twilight

Brings me you.

We were kids, remember when?

We loved each other back then.

There where nothing could stop us,

Our life, filled with cosmic dust.

We took the images in our mind,

Projected them throughout time;

You would finish my sentence;

Intimacy, no space between us.

How can I ever look at anything the same?

When I hear waves crash, I’m holding your hand;

Alone in tornadic skies, calmed by a look in your eyes;

We consoled each other never uttering a sound.

And I lost you one day

The grief unbearable

Rain uncontainable

My soul still aches, inconsolable.

And remains:

My voice

Weak

Thoughts amiss

Quarter century gone

A week

And I still taste

You on my lips.

Because love never dies
