Waiting – Author Anne D. Salyer

I am a shadow

In the corner of your eye,

But you still see me

Despite of my best intentions.

I wear a chameleon mask,

Changing colors with the seasons.

You know my hidden face.

There is no place

For my heart to hide

That you cannot find.

You strip me of my weapons

As I stand here waiting

For the blow

That has yet to come.

I am still waiting….

About the Author

Anne D Salyer was born and grew up in a small town in Oklahoma. Eventually I escaped to Kansas where I met the love of my life with whom I’ve been with for 25 years. We currently reside in Overland Park with three cats, my neglected poetic children, and this raccoon puppet. All in all, it is a good life!
