About the Author

Sarah Lamar King

Sarah Lamar King is California made, moving to Washington early in life, where she currently resides. Born to a musician and a free spirit who weren’t ready to be parents, she was adopted when she was 6 months old. She met her biological father for the first time when she was 23. They remained close until his death on Valentines day 2003. She met her biological mother a handful of times throughout her life, few and far between, as her mother went where the wind and the alcohol took her. These events as well as raising a disabled child, dealing with loss and hopelessness, domestic violence, and walking in others shoes, have all contributed to the pieces she writes.

Sarah began writing poetry in the 3rd grade, her first collection of poetry being called ‘Poems Galore’. There were several times throughout life when she had to stop writing, times when she was silenced by life, was void of feeling, or felt too much to put anything on paper.

She finds solace in the elegiac poetry that she writes today. She began sharing some of her pieces on social media and realized how much feeling her poetry brought about in others, her ultimate goal.

Sarah’s Books

My North Star Misled Me Cover

Preface . . .

This book was written to help a person find their internal quarrels in written words. Written words bring about a different perspective. To overcome something, you must be able to see it from a different viewpoint, you must be able to analyze and understand it in order to accept it or move past it. The most important step in the healing process is acknowledgement that what you are feeling is okay to feel, and that you are not alone in those feelings. Get lost in this book and find yourself in it, all at the same time. Emotional clarity.

A dying breed –By Tanya Biggs  –“There are few authors like Sarah Lamar King left. She is poetry with a pen for a weapon of swift annihilation. Her words are profound and not dulled down. I understand why authors would do that for sale’s numbers, but not Sarah. She’s true to herself and that makes her a rarity! I have loved and will continue to love reading her poetry!”

5.0 out of 5 stars Two words…… Haunting and Beautiful By Amazon Customer – “Rarely have I connected with an author’s writing the way I have with Ms. King’s book, “My North Star Misled Me.” Sarah’s words are like a blade, allowing her to carve her way out of the dark, and into the light, heartache after heartache…… Well done Sarah… Well done…”

Poetry…

A place where words speak for themselves.

Contained within these pages you will be invited to waltz with the macabre, on a never-ending note. Trails of affliction and ambivalence disguised as ink lead you to a place where darkness and light romance, where hearts are severed and souls made whole; all within a few pages. A heartbeat’s death and rebirth in the caesura, where time often stands still.

“Sarah Lamar King’s poetry comes from the deepest place of one’s mind, the place where truth and pain reside.  A beautiful flower emerges from the tiniest crack in her soul.” – DP Curran author ‘Born of the Sea’

“Words that take me to the depths of my soul. Sarah’s words ask to be read and reread. Some require the reader sit with discomfort while processing their meaning.  Some are immediately met with understanding and peace.  King’s poetry is creatively composed, rooted in strength, and has healing power.”  – Ellen Kaplan Goffin, Teacher
