Spotlight Poet: Sheila Ann Anderson

I Wish You Enough

Everything that you wish for
Isn’t necessarily what you need
When I say that I wish you enough
It reminds us that life is filled with selfish greed

We do not want everything to come to us easily
We need to learn how to weather pain
We need to live life’s bad experiences
To appreciate the sunshine after the rain

I wish for you varied experiences
That will help balance out your life
For if all that we have is joy
We will not be able to tolerate strife

I wish for you to see the reasoning
Of why we must have good and bad
For if we just have one without the other
Life will drive us utterly mad

So I wish you enough in your life
So that you can learn to appreciate and understand
For when we experience a well-rounded education
We can find contentment, understanding and
Compassion for all our fellow man
