Author Sarah Lamar King – Why I Write

The contender in my own duel

Scarred tongue licks my gaping wounds,

Words wrapped around my weathered tomb,

Mind sickened by the world’s costumes,

Reposed to a pyre, alive,

Anemoia, sublime,

Shrouded in the throes of war, pejoratively,

Trapped in an untamed heart’s fragility,

Melancholy’s autograph upon my skin,

A relict, when all else is fleeting…

Don’t exhume my rueful soul,

I beg thee…

Just maintain my words’ vitality.

Sarah Lamar King

About the Author

Sarah began writing poetry in the 3rd grade, her first collection of poetry being called ‘Poems Galore’. There were several times throughout life when she had to stop writing, times when she was silenced by life, was void of feeling, or felt too much to put anything on paper.

She finds solace in the elegiac poetry that she writes today. She began sharing some of her pieces on social media and realized how much feeling her poetry brought about in others, her ultimate goal. Sarah has always wanted to be an author and thanks to Creative Talents Unleashed and their publishing contract it was brought to fruition. “My North Star Misled Me” is her first published book, a long awaited dream come true, in hopes that her words can reach farther than she ever can.
