Author Brenda-Lee Ranta – Reflections

There is a morning scent.

It arrives when the sun sheds

it’s first light on misty horizons.

Wafting over our faces through

the open window above heads

Soft incandescent hues cast

a glow upon us, rousing us

from lovers slumber.

Summer mornings are best.

Daybreak is the mystical time

when dreams confer with reality;

all things seem tangible and new.

A blank piece of paper waits

to be filled with living, giving,

loving, fervent passions or

tepid acquiescence.

There is a morning scent.

It is the aroma of new hope;

fresh, clean, immaculate,

untouched by dissonance

and jarring noise pollution

Clarity comes from silences,

so still that we hear the sound

of our hearts beating.

I kiss the sunlight good morning,

breathing in it’s sweet scent,

breathing in hope.
