She walks through the summer sun kissed meadows of her memories, once again that little girl picking violets in the forest, giggling as a stray grasshopper lands on her hand and waiting patiently while he decides which way to fly next. She’s the girl running through the tall grasses scattering butterflies in her wake, flinging wishes to the soft warm breezes as she marvels at how warm the sun feels on her face.
She’s the girl waiting not so patiently for the next hot dog or corn on the cob at the family barbecue so she can finish and race back out on the big blue bike to fly on bicycle wings to the village square for a big grape slush that will turn her lips blue and send a shiver through her even though the sun is high and bright.
She’s the girl who lay in the cool evergreen grass and watched the clouds roll by as the most important man in her life sat against the old picnic table and played her favorite songs as she daydreamed of Popsicle promises and of someday being a princess. She’s the girl who always carried a song in her heart because that man filled her life with music everyday growing up.
She walks through the summer sun kissed meadows of her memories grateful to be her daddy’s girl.
