Serein – Author Donna J. Sanders

What fire in the sky

to singe my skin

not a gust

not a trickle

from a billow above

even the wet sand

too hot for my toes

separating the epidermis

on my shoulders

and my nose

even in the shaded elms

the sweat still drips

a humidity from hell

what I wouldn’t give

as the blistering sun descends

for a sweet serein
