When we lose someone to death, it often feels as if the beauty present in our lives is lost forever. This poem gently suggests beauty’s fragments are silently and timelessly suspended between the folds of our hearts and memory’s mind.

Petaled Flower

Like translucent jewels
of life’s garden
petals and leaves
all fall to the ground
and wither
in their season time.

But vestiges will remain
and cling
to gossamer silken threads
spun within our minds.

Bringing again to life
a flower
in a garden
whose presence
could not remain.
