What about Our Children – Author Tammy S. Thomas

We say our children are our future
However we are failing them

The government choosing money over education
No funding and no learning
Teaching them half-truths of our history

Where we are coming from and where we are going Remains a mystery

No child left behind but that is exactly what we did

Having someone else to raise them
Fending for themselves

While they’re learning from these streets
Who is going to protect them when your backs are turned?

Stop blaming the system when it starts at home!
However… Where is home?

We have to create a path for those to follow,

to reach that mountaintop!

Guide these children to keep pushing and never to stop

Therefore my question to you is . . .
What are you going to do?
