3 Generations of Daredevils, and Not a Single Car Wreck Between Them

bribes, well yes –

the envelope at the first of each month

like expecting

proud parents of the gizzard flush harmony

that wired crazed eye look of parched suffering

predictable postcard hearts of no blood

I am a fool for not understanding

why alligators cannot play hopscotch

under hours of childish sun

shoulders of the earth calling each other mountains

smoke signals of big tobacco

I am the chump, the sucker, the dupe:

3 generations of daredevils, and not a single car wreck

between them

something does not add up

even the calculator on the take, the abacus,

everything not quite right;

chairs without legs

still walking.
