Can some really know me?
Spent time digging around inside myself to see what I would find
Pieces of me that I loved and grew to love
Darkness that awakened me to the light
So certain of what I wanted
What am I ready to give?
Been told I am too harsh when observing what is seen
Hard like stone and cold as a wintry blast
Many things to contemplate
Change has given and taken parts of me
What do I have left?
I feel I know how to love
But when slighted-become cruel and hurtful
Casting forth words that twist and cut deep
But can utter “sorry” when wrong
That is the paradox of me
Ready to be the man-but to what degree?
Some were turned off and wanted to control
They really didn’t know what they wanted
But controlled will not be me
Opposites take their places on the board
Confident yet insecure
Hard but broken down to uncontrollable sobbing
Is that being dominated?
Was firm but pushed to submission to keep the peace
Praying there is someone to embrace and acknowledge
AS I am A MAN
