Woke up this morning in my right mind
I thank God for another day of sun
I’m leaving all of my worries behind
and trouble can find me on the run
With so much negativity in the air
at times it’s hard for me to breathe
Mama never said life was going to be fair
so I keep a trick or two up my sleeve
Sometimes you need skin as tough as leather
can’t worry about trying to please other folk
I barely have two nickels to rub together
but I’m a long way from being broke
Got some extra pep in my step these days
so I’m lacing up my running shoes
I’ve been blessed in so many ways, because
there’s a whole lot of rhythm in my blues
