Trying Times – Author Damon E. Johnson

I’m in a mood

a sour mood

trouble best beware

I’m in a funk

a bluesy funk

so handle me with care

Lost my house

and my job

can’t even make ends meet

Don’t want to lie, cheat,

steal, or rob

but my family has to eat

Too ashamed to beg

too proud to cry

but tough times never last

A strong man prays

for better days

so indeed this, too, shall pass
