The Lantern
The wind screams,
causing my old oak tree,
to shed its tired branches,
and prepare for new life.
Rain pours down;
magical little tear drops,
escape the Heavens,
to wash away my pain.
Hot coffee is brewed;
aroma brings comfort.
Warmth slides down;
my parched and weary throat.
It is the perfect weather,
to pour my heart out in a poem.
Momentary comfort found,
under a toasty blanket near the fire.
A brightly lit lantern;
sits in the window of my soul.
It will guide my lost love,
to find his way home.
