Tears – Author Daryl P. Hall

One long night
You saw me weeping,
Tears pouring down
From the windows of my soul.
You saw them fall
So freely,
Onto the blank page
At my fingertips.
You were disturbed,
You showed sympathy,
Displayed concern –
You had no idea!
My tears weren’t an exorcism
Of hidden ghosts or sadness,
No, each tear I shed
Was a word of poetry
From the depth of me.
Every single drop
Helped form my soliloquy of hope,
The passion of my dreams.
Staining the blank page
With the finest verse written,
As powerful as any poet
Has previously penned.
The overwhelming emotions I feel
Need to find a creative outlet,
Please don’t despair for me –
No, revel in my tears,
They are my future displayed.
