The Hyde I Hide – Author Billy Charles Root

The deep end is closed

And I’m on the edge

Finger strength grows lose

On this one handed ledge

Fears weigh heavy

Squashing my soul

The words of friends

Do not console

Alone in a multitude

Invisible tears named pretend

I wear a mask to protect you

But you take offense

Maybe I should just show you

Whom I really am

You know, hide Dr. Jekyll

And show you, Mr. Hyde

But I fear I won’t be able

To put him back inside
