The oak branch danced
to a serenaded minuet;
neither wind nor music
were heard as I listened
intently to my throbbing
heart beating a drum roll.
A dark Elemental inhales
and the shadows bend
on the high mossy wall
whilst the castle keep
wipes sweat from brow;
a murder of crows send
‘meet and greets’ as the
black tea steeps and
cream creeps into a pink
cup from my silvery spoon.
The Elemental exhales and
dark shadows bend again
whilst long wailing screams
drift and echo contrite as
twilight retreats and joins
this haunted, starry night.
