The Drums – Author Veronica Thornton

The beating of the drums my own conundrum

which way is the first thought but the last to come

pictures broken down into panes

so the image never looks the same

chaos creates distractions

watching the bigger picture gauging reactions

yet many only choose to see

the portion of the pane they give you visually

taking their word that the image is what they say it is to be

follow the beat of the drums and detangle the conundrums

because the chaos is to keep you numb and dumb falling

for anything because it’s  said by the right one

the rhythm of the drum given by the soul of ancestral ones

can never be outdone

once you hear the drums and follow the beat

the booming sounds guides your feet

the rhythm of the drum gets even louder

more defined meaning its resonating through your mind

now you pick apart the pieces you’ve been shown

step back and look at the whole picture full blown

the beat of the drums now begins to pound

as you analyze the pieces you’ve seen

the bigger picture becomes more profound

even when they kept shuffling the pictures around

tiny picture panes projected through short burst of images

that are expected not to last in memory’s lane

chaos brings chaos leaving no room for a clear thought

which is why they tried to change the musical tunes

to train you to give into what’s bought

but there are some that face the conundrums

of the beating drums and have no desire to go numb

they try to spread the word to everyone

those that hear the pounding of the drums

see the bigger picture not just what they want you to see

never distracted by things presented to them visually

solve the conundrums listen to the beat of the drums

can’t you hear them beating for someone.
