Desperately the wind blows
Through the trees
Like lightening riding a storm.
Chaos reigns as the night screams madly.
I cannot sleep.
The walls of my house creak in anguish
As I stare at the ceiling remembering…
You insisted that the world
Was meant to be cruel,
A justification for your behavior.
Now alone in the maelstrom,
I wait for the morning and
The eye of the hurricane
To come and prove you wrong.

I was born and grew up in a small town in Oklahoma. Eventually I escaped to Kansas where I met the love of my life with whom I’ve been with for 25 years. We currently reside in Overland Park with three cats, my neglected poetic children, and this raccoon puppet. All in all, it is a good life!
