Gracefully, I Grow – Author Damon E. Johnson

Each morning when I awake

before the start of my day

the very first breath that I take

form the words I use when I pray

The years have been good to me

I’m blessed beyond compare

I see the world so differently

the road’s been tough but fair

In everyone’s life some rain must fall

I found this to be true

ambitious thoughts sometimes hit a wall

I’ve shed a tear a time or two

Yet there are no idle fences that need mending

no well-traveled bridges to burn

no time for foolishness or pretending

only more lessons to learn

With open arms, I embrace life’s task

my steady feet are often tired

a place in the sun one day I’ll bask

the mere journey has me inspired

And though there are many peaks/hills left to climb

one thing that is plain to see

nothing can replace my peace of mind

as I grow gracefully
