Stones Echo – Author D.B. Hall

Back when elves built magical wonderlands in trees

And the music of the bards drifted upon the breeze

Beautiful faeries threw parties late into the night

Gaiety of laughter signified everything was alright

Elders had a charge to curate the sacred archives

But were pulled from their scrolls by their needy wives

Out onto earthen dance floor to the sounds of lyre

Being bumped and jostled amid trees alit by faerie fire

Mugs and cisterns are full of that ancient Elvin ale

Aged for centuries in a process that they would tell

Always try the Brownie’s Stane; but don’t over pour

Around the pole, grab the ribbons let spirits soar

Kinsman magic protecting and illuminating the night

Stones of Callanish will echo fun till morning’s light

Who are you? Are you a brave knight? A warrior brandishing your sword, ready for battle. Are you a dreamer? Away with the fairies, losing count of fireflies whilst searching for Neverland. A goth? Who feels right at home with the monsters hiding under the bed, who loves to dance a dervish with the devil on the stroke of midnight. Or perhaps you are a dragon-slayer? Or a soul snatcher? Basking in the heat of an eternal flame. Or maybe you’re a witch? Hiding deep in the woods, practicing dark arts beneath the light of a full moon.
