When Love Fades – Author Jill N. Pontiere

You can’t see it, but you know it’s there

The missing link is everywhere

Feeling dead inside

Trying so hard to make it work, make it last

Nothing you can do, when the love fades

Each evening you peck their cheek, say good night

Go to your room, close your door and turn off the light

You lay there thinking about what might have been

But you realize it’s over, when the love fades

People think that everything is fine

Because you’re wearing a mask that seems to hide

The loneliness, the hurt, and pain inside

No matter how hard you try, nothing’s gonna make it right

When the love fades

Then one day they look into your eyes

They take your hand, say to you

“Darling I’m sorry, but I no longer can play this charade

I feel the distance in your embrace”.

It just seems to happen this way

Nothing you can do, when the love fades…

  1. This piece made me reflect on my own life and situations, something I do not often do. What happens when you grow apart? Do you really “grow?” This is something I have been reflecting on for the past few months. Thank you again for sharing!
