Soliloquy of a Refugee – Author Don Beukes

My hopes and dreams are the

same as yours – It’s just that my

existence is compromised – Lies filter

through on global screens – But you

don’t hear our muted cream screams –

Our culture crippled our humanity’s

stifled – As you watch us, mesmerized

These streets speak of horrendous horrors –

For us there are no more happy tomorrows.
