When She Cries – Author Billy Charles Root

When she cries

Cause I made her sad

The flowers die

And turn to sand

The sky cries with her

And the willows weep

Her sobs bring thunder

And the crickets don’t creak

The race of her heart

Makes the wind come apart

And the tear streaks on her face

Stops the moon in mid space

The redness of her cheeks

Turns the color of the sky

And as her crying peaks

The eagles stop their flight

When she cries

The shine of the stars turn blur

And the planets realign

In a pattern unsure

Angels stop their singing briefly

Every rose shuts its mouth

And the thieves stop their thieving

North melts into south

The nightingale only hums

And the song birds sleep

Worriers stop the beating drums

For there is no song to sing

Daises become lazy

Rainbows all turn blue

All eyes become hazy

And cry with her too.
