Good vs. Evil ~ Author Amanda Hoppes

 

The Devil is cheering me on from the sidelines

There he sits, grinning

Constantly applauding my failures

Trying to barricade any chances of me winning

 

His emerald green eyes,

burning their way through my skin to see into my soul

His whispers of evil piercing my ears like nails on a

chalk board

I tell him over and over he isn’t welcome, he needs to go

Every time he will laugh and with a growl says “not until I’m your Lord.”

 

The Angel walking with me smiles and assures me I am safe

He cannot touch me unless I agree to let him in

I can keep him locked out of my life; I can control my fate

I am clean, my sins have been forgiven

 

He doesn’t give up, every day is a battle between

good and evil

So I told him to pull up a seat and watch as I continue to turn my life around

Because for me, I’m just not going to settle

For a life that beats me to the ground
