Eight Thousand Miles – Author Daryl P. Hall

Eight thousand miles
‘cross oceans deep,
The unavoidable distance
That separates you and I.

Eight thousand miles
Lying between us,
It sounds so very far away,
Almost unreachable.

 Eight thousand miles
And seventeen hours,
Keeping me from gazing
Into such enigmatic eyes.
Though eight thousand miles
Cannot stop those souls,
Destined to become
Closest forever friends.

Eight thousand miles
Cannot silence
All the words that
Flow so eloquently, back and forth.
Eight thousand miles
Could never stop you and I,
Sharing such mutual admiration
On our way to lifelong friendship.

Eight thousand miles
Means absolutely nothing,
To those determined to build a bridge
Between two continents.
