Suicidal Thoughts – Author Billy Charles Root

Get a gun

Prop it up

Bedside stand

Coffee cup

Gun named hate

Self is the trigger

Bullet too small

Make it bigger

The devil keeps laughing

In my ear by the door

Soul lies dying

On the dark bedroom floor

I know what you’re thinking

That It’s pointed at me

The truth is I shot my soul

Somewhere in the dark

Make believe

Now I lie bleeding

On the floor

All alone

Last beats now beating

I’m about to go home

I hope someone heard

The shots that took me out of my mind

The ones I took at myself

When I shot me from behind

I hope someone comes

To turn on the light

I hope someone comes in

And turns on the light

Sees me there lying

In a pool of self-hatred

In the fleeting grips of despair

Call 9-1-1

Another dummy down

Choking on the makeup

Of a self-made clown

Speechless donkey

Is what the Bible calls a man like me

All I ever wanted

Was to be a better man

At the end of my destiny
