Here in a place I don’t belong,
I dig my heels in my grave as
broken truths pollute my heart
with tales of a dying fire that once
lived inside my spirit.
For trapped in the realms of my mind,
I see smoky mirrors being absorbed
by my own reflection
where beasts come out of the shadows
to prey on the meek,
because of their thirst for blood.
They lead me down a trail of tears
where emulsion of my soul illuminates the sky;
yet, this dance of death rampages with their fire
forever entombing me in a thick fog.
