Queen of Tears – Author Hugh Dysart

Her cage may be gilded, it’s still a cage,

we placate her demands, ignore her rage

She speaks with a voice no one hears

In a Kingdom of Teardrops,

she’s the Queen of Tears

Rule her thoughts, dictate her behaviour,

then don the crown of king and saviour

Flooding her mind with insecure fear,

a drowning Queen, in a pool of tears
Prays for equality in workplace and mass,

our floors she sweeps, her ceiling, glass

Has the strength, compassion we lack,

one step forward, two steps back

We continue our role of emoting actor,

underestimating the feminine factor

We blind our eyes, cover our ears,

then, kneel before the Queen of Tears

Her cage may be gilded, it’s still a cage,

we placate her demands, ignore her rage

She rules in a world where no one hears

In a Kingdom of Teardrops,

she’s the Queen of Tears
