Shaken – Author Billy Charles Root

Now breathe in, and then breathe out

Now in faith, but then in doubt

You seem so far, away from me

But in my scars, you’re plain to see

Amidst the dark, amidst the light

Your lonely soldier, in the midst of night

I’ve swung the sword, too heavy for me

Open my eyes, and help me see

I’m not good enough, in any deed done

Oh hear your servant, your adopted son

I am alone, in all my un-doneness

Amidst the crowd, amidst my oneness

I’m on the edge, of your blade, I bleed

Both edges so sharp, please intercede

Living a life, that screams, look at me

How to let go, how to be free

Heavy arms, hanging low

Hardened heart, burdened soul

Ripping and tearing, the smelter’s pot

I don’t have anything, that’s all I’ve got

I am in ruin, of all I’ve known

Wishing only, to freely roam

To seek thine face, and find it close

To swim in Grace, with the Holy Ghost

To give away, all of me

Until your eyes, are all I see
