I Passed by Anne D. Salyer

I passed into the light

And saw the birds fly North again.

The sun shown

On their golden wings.

I passed into the darkness.

The moon hung

Low above the trees.

Pleiades shimmered in blue haze.

I passed through yesterday.

I fought a mighty battle.

My scars ran red.

I stand on the cusp of tomorrow.

What will I gain

When I pass through today?

My own shining light?

Anne D. Salyer

I was born and grew up in a small town in Oklahoma. Eventually I escaped to Kansas where I met the love of my life with whom I’ve been with for 25 years. We currently reside in Overland Park with three cats, my neglected poetic children, and this raccoon puppet. All in all, it is a good life!
