Love Leaves a Scar

When love cuts deep, it always leaves a scar.

Lightening strikes, piercing hearts;

bleeding out pain, into the black of lonely.

Second guessing, third person memories,

pain and confusion are sleepless warriors.

Love leaves a scar.

When love runs deep, there are no survivors.

Hearts shipwrecked on rocky beaches,

unspoken debris breaks surface,

staring down hope, lonely, frozen in time.

The winds of change blow cold.

Love leaves a scar.

When love dies, bury it deep.

Broken hearts, broken chains.

When love dies, bury it cold.

Forgive, forget, go love again.

When love runs out, it slams the door;

curses run barefoot down the street,

leaving the overstuffed baggage,

of excuses and hollow love letters.

Closure is in fairytales.

Love leaves a scar.

When love rushes in, tread gently in the night.

Trust dawns, on every heartbeat;

old scars don’t feel fear.

Broken hearts, broken chains,

forgive, forget, go love again.

Love leaves a scar.
