HARLEYS AND HIGHWAYS
Oh for those windswept halcyon days,
Of Harleys, rock & hemp-lined byways,
Wind in hair & black leathered thigh,
Beyond my vision, just wide blue sky.
The throbbing thrush of engine´s purr,
Tattooed wolf of drooling fang & fur,
Hot tarmac, highway route of sixty six,
Cacti & tumbleweed out in the sticks.
Scents of dust & warm revving fuel,
Just man, machine, love, life & duel,
Passing corn fields & red grazing cattle,
Man & elements in both love & battle.
Occasional ranch with red roofed barns,
Washing tired face in snow melted tarns,
Bourbon quaffed in horse-town diners,
Punch-ups leaving great mauve shiners.
Leather boots, throttle & the country song,
Where´s time gone, has it been that long?
Oh for those windswept & halcyon days,
Of Harleys, rock & hemp-lined byways.
