Thoughts to Sleep by Nolan P. Holloway, Jr.

Feeling of thoughts

Just beyond where I can push

Thinking of the day of death

Breath to cease

Body to dust

Mind quiet and void

Sleep begins

Dreams of emptiness

Until the awakening

When He will call

To rise totally anew

Once I was afraid

I would be forgotten

And the world will continue to rotate

Folks say they will remember

But over time I might be forgotten

The thought haunts me

Ghost of my being wandering empty halls

Separated from life

But I remember my Father’s promise

Will only sleep for a time

So as I live, His promise I cling

Live by the Words gifted to all

For a short sleep to be touched to awake

To a new day of eternity
