Palette of My Soul by Ken Allan Dronsfield

Carry me to where

I’ll take my final rest.

I wish to lie in the throes

of a lovelorn devotion,

rather than the waiting

arms of a hungry soul

intent to devour my spirit

devoid of loving emotions.

The palette of my soul

remains a shadowed black;

and darting about the haze

are the lofty fluttering bats,

hidden about the chambers

of a shattered bygone fantasy.

For seething is my breath;

My dream, is your reality.
