Shades of Orange by Steve Lay

Waking up in the district of Torridge

Time to put some orange

On the top of my porridge

So my body is getting some storage

I passed on bacon and sausage

Because in my fridge was a shortage

Trying something new takes courage

Going to take a ride up to Norwich

The birds are singing out in coral

Kamakaze cat thinks he is immortal

Looking at the plants that are floral

I waved to my neighbour Laurel

Who was smiling having a chortle

Get my sweater on so I am warming

Looking out the sky is a nice shade of orange

Tick tock says the magic clock

In a language that’s part of the soul

Get in line for the gate

You don’t want to be late

For your trip down the rabbit hole…

Down the Rabbit Hole” is a collective work of writings from poets who like you, live their lives inundated with the challenges and demands of everyday life. They have unlocked the door to boundaries we all make for ourselves and turned those boundaries into fantastic, beautiful worlds to both help ease the boredom and perhaps spark the imagination.
