Too Hard – Too Strong by Daryl P. Hall

We loved too hard,
We loved too deep.
You shared my breath,
I shared your sleep.
We loved too fast,
We loved too strong.
I sensed that it was right,
You felt that it was wrong.
We loved too hard,
We loved too deep.
Both of us made promises
That in the end, we couldn’t keep.
We loved too fast,
We loved too strong.
You vowed I was the only one
To whom your heart belonged.
Different cultures,
Different faiths,
But we shared a common ground,
Different cultures,
Different faiths,
Meant you couldn’t stay around.
We loved too hard,
We loved too deep.
The road ahead was rocky,
The climb was just too steep.
We loved too fast,
We loved too strong.
We harmonised so sweetly,
Now you sing a solo song.
