Time Passed Away by Nolan P. Holloway, Jr.

Afraid to reach beyond to be first

waiting on someone else

all the while, time disappears,

wasted and discarded

never truly understanding what is being lost

memories fade away-thoughts clouded as to

what reality was

rooted in a position in time of you

not willing to concede but to impede

not expanding precious time to include anyone

other than yourself

the sad selfishness is that it is lost in the darkness

of forever

time passes-dormant but alive
