Comfortable in My Own Skin by Tamsen Grace

When I was born I fit in my skin

Then the world pointed out it didn’t fit

it was too big,

I hid in the folds

and wished I could grow into it

Then one day it was too snug

I knew everyone noticed,

looked with judging eyes

Then life tossed me around

my skin ripped and tore

but it stretched to fit me

I was comfortable in my skin

There are moments I wake with shrunken skin…

feel that familiar panic,

but I know it will loosen or eventually stretch to fit me…

and I no longer care what the world has to say
