Dragon’s Dream by Valormore De Plume

Bluegreen eyelids hover halfway cross v-shaped pupils,

as they descend to conceal fiery ambergris eyes.

Dragons worry little of men and elfish scruples,

for the millenniums of enchanted living make them wise.

The fairies flutter round about on iridescent lavender wings,

playing hide-n-seek between his teeth and many pointy horns.

Dragon’s off to dreamland where his long-gone lover sings,

she was the fairest beauty ever took to sky, til that dreadful morn.

They’d race near grasses in the valley low, soar the mountains above,

through the darkest forests, and beneath the ocean’s waves.

He was the only male to fertilize the flock, although she was his only love.

The females live a shorter life, and now they’re in their graves.

His wings feel rather tattered now, when he takes to air.

He hunts the men he feeds upon easily while prancing on his legs.

Then he returns to the comfort of the cavern to dream of his lady fair,

just him and all the fairies, to watch over thousands of purple eggs.

Who are you? Are you a brave knight? A warrior brandishing your sword, ready for battle. Are you a dreamer? Away with the fairies, losing count of fireflies whilst searching for Neverland. A goth? Who feels right at home with the monsters hiding under the bed, who loves to dance a dervish with the devil on the stroke of midnight. Or perhaps you are a dragon-slayer? Or a soul snatcher? Basking in the heat of an eternal flame. Or maybe you’re a witch? Hiding deep in the woods, practicing dark arts beneath the light of a full moon.
