  1. Letting Go

    I dreamt I saw you.
    Perhaps I did see you
    in the distance of my
    imagination.
    And I caught the moment
    stilled in shock
    and
    held on to it.
    I held it
    and
    the past held
    for another moment,
    our past,
    and then I freed it
    let it go
    to fly
    away
    like a bird,
    as if you
    were a bird.

  2. Today…

    Today is the day
    I believe the silence.

    Today is the day
    I take back me.

    Today is the day
    I stop giving you power.

    Today is the day
    I realize my worth.

    Today is the day
I become a girl content with who she is.

    Today is the day
I knock out my addiction for you.

    Today is the day
I stop treading in your sea of broken promises.

    Today is the day
I no longer drown in the lies.

    Today is the day
I take back my tattered heart.

    Today is the day
    I quit loving you.

    … Today.

  4. let go

I count my scars as tears flow
trying very hard not to explode

in my mind’s eye I see the piles
of gifts so rare gained through time
and my scars seem all worthwhile

then I smile, cast out the access load
and tell my healing heart to just let go
