Climbing by Hugh Dysart

Fear runs like blood from a boxer,

ankle deep and climbing

Tangled rose garden mystery,

poison ivy’s climbing

Vote charmers, old boy picnics,

coleslaw and creation

Rebel flags, riverboat gamblers,

gun shop slaves

Orwellian scams, con man karma,

Deja vu all over again

Reincarnated voters, T.V. ballots,

survey says?

Opioid states in medicated comas,

hypnotized and falling

Destruction as distraction, mother of all lies,

killing as cover up

Stupidity with pride, comfortably dumb,

ignorance as religion

God, guts, guns, preachers in red,

ball caps as hoods

Hate burns in barbwire and bigots,

neck deep and hanging

Flying on west wing airways,

pray for lightening
