My Quest by Veronica “Vee” Thornton

I never met Bonita Applebaum

but I’ve been serenaded with the song

it didn’t turn me on but we danced all night long

I’d visit El Segundo if I had a chance

wouldn’t leave my wallet but I would

drop a phone number and hope he’d call it

wondering can we kick it hoping he’d say yes we can

I was taller than a 5 footer and he was a six-foot man

we both loved real hip hop when it was flawless

now they marketing garbage hip hop or whatever they call it

so we created a scenario of electric relaxation

and every song he played was a dedication

I bust a few rhymes to go with it

he said Oh my God I didn’t know you were a poet

let me lay a beat for you to flow with

yeah we got the jazz mixed with a little pizzazz

yall on point is what people said as they went pass

I’m on point all the time in my mind

as he was on point with the rhythmic bass lines

in the end we extracted the abstract

with the memory of Bonita Applebaum on the playback.

Poetic Melodies

Upon these waves of sound we can find our spirits lifted to the heavens, we can feel the beats and the rhythms in our beings and we are moved by the vibrations. We may become lost in a memory or a moment of time may be singled out by the distinct patterns and oscillations of a melody.
