Memories, grainy, old time movies
Ragged tape, threads dusty projectors,
flickering over time’s silver screen
A film of stale dreams, on sticky floors,
in a long-abandoned movie house
Long forgotten character actors,
wave in Chaplinesque fashion
Smiling, like someone I should know
Beckoning me into the film, into,
black and white movies in my mind
Heroes, villains, storybook cowboys,
bloodless shootouts in Stetsons
Winners, losers, caped crusaders,
ticket stubs from broken films
Even Superman gets the blues
When the movie is over, no credits roll
In the cold silence, red lights murmur,
communicating nothing to no one
Every moment is a memory,
exiting stage left
Good guys always get the girl,
riding off into a studio sunset
Glamourous debuts, final scenes,
films of memories, shown nightly
In a long-abandoned movie house
